NISA Announces July 2023 Performers of The Month Awards

Published Aug 11, 2023

CHICAGO (August 11, 2023) – Today the National Independent Soccer Association announced its July Performers of the Month awards. Determined by a select set of NISA front office staff, the winners are:

  • Player of the Month: Player who demonstrated his abilities on the field above and beyond any other player in the league
    • Ben Roach, ALBION San Diego, played an amazing last line of defense for the club as it went 3-1-0 in the month. All three wins were clean sheets for Roach as he faced six shots on target. His efforts helped the club rise a place in the standings to second.

  • Coach of the Month: Coach who led his team to significant results and led by example both on and off the field
    • Chattanooga FC extended its season-long unbeaten streak with three wins and a tie in July. The only time it was seriously challenged in its four July matches was July 19 in a 1-1 result against hosts Maryland Bobcats FC. In that match, CFC needed a 66th-minute free kick golazzo from forward Markus Naglestad. Coach Rod Underwood used three different lineups and three different formations across those matches.

  • Club of the Month: An off the field award to the Club that best promoted their brand and image within their local community
    • Savannah Clovers FC continued building a heritage of strong community engagement. In July alone, the club hosted a military and first responders night, partnered with Renegade Paws Rescue, promoted a Kick Hunger campaign with Savannah Feed the Hungry, held a player meet-n-greet, and conducted a Back-to-School drive. Bringing the community to the pitch, SCFC engaged Jay White from the non-profit Hostilo Helps to present the Independent Cup trophy to Captain Zack Hargreaves, and Richmond Hill Soccer Club and Savannah United youth players were the mascots and ball kids all month.

  • Operations Team of the Month: Awarded to the Game Day Operations staff who best embraced and followed the league standards set forth by the league office
    • Michigan Stars FC operations team was on-point with run-of-show and visiting club services throughout July. The staff, led by Chris McInally and Elizabeth Juncaj, provided mentorship to its cross-town rivals Gold Star FC Detroit game day staff – particularly during a match day doubleheader when Gold Star FC Detroit hosted ALBION San Diego at Romeo Stadium. Meredith & Anthony Barak and Jamie Morici provided outstanding match day streaming support. Add to that and the play-by-play staff led by Mason Lowery, PA announcer Kevin “Famous” Kramis, and robust coverage by Sam Allen, club photographer.
